Sure, let’s go apple picking

Our first overnight stay was in Gardiner, New York. We chose this place for 2 reasons. Primarily, it was half way to our first long term stay. Second, it was close to where my daughter and her boyfriend live; we get to visit and have dinner.

We chose Wright’s farm. It is a beautiful place, family run, that features a year round farm stand/store. It has apple picking when in season and the people there are friendly and helpful. We liked their baked goods and bought that and some local coffee beans.

Had dinner at a German restaurant (which was really good), with Katy & Zion, but they had to take off for Boston and Julie and I needed sleep.

The trip to Wrights Farm was tense. I'd never driven anything so big. I'd never driven a diesel truck. And this lack of experience added to the fear that something would go horribly wrong. We had trouble with the truck before we left (that's another, very long story), but thanks to the wizards at Quirk GMC we left New Hampshire on time and as planned. Didn't help that I kept stopping because Blue DEF wanted all my attention. But we made it and I have to say, the whole thing was beyond exciting.

We ran on "house" batteries, which don't last long.

After we returned from dinner, I tried to set up the suitcase generator. It didn't help matters that the correct cables were not on hand. We woke to 28 degrees and no heat.

Yeah, it took awhile to warm up in the truck, but we learned more than the day before!

On the road and heading to Woodbine, Maryland.

Never thought we'd ever do anything like this, but here we are. It is a lot of fun, a lot of work and a lot of seeing/doing new things. Thanks, Jackie
