Let's Get Seafood!

Writer: TomTom

On Christmas Eve, we went to Aunt Gails where we'd spend the next couple of days. Aunt Gail (or AG), is Julie's Aunt. She lives in Murrells Inlet and is a blast to hang out with. She is "up" for everything. The Energizer Bunny usually calls her for advice. This is where we overate Christmas Eve and Christmas dinner. We wanted for nothing as AG rolled out the red carpet.

It was cold, but we wandered the "Marsh Walk" until I needed some warmth and we wound up at a restaurant where we had cocktails and a lite dinner. Christmas Day was too much food; I think AG worries that we don't eat enough. On the way back to the Puffin, we decided to get some seafood. We ended up going to an Aquarium, where there was a Jimmy Buffet Margaritaville and explains how we ended up wearing shark and turtle hats. It suits us.

Julie took off the week between Christmas and New Years and it's been busy. Being Lazy takes a lot of energy. The lowest nighttime temps (low 20's), caused freezing pipes, but there wasn't any damage. I heat taped the fresh water hose, but the (electrical), heat tape was defective. No worries though, the RV place had a heated water hose and problem solved. Yeah that kind of busy.

We managed to see a Christmas show at the Alabama Theatre. The theatre was created by the musical group Alabama and the performers there are talented and it was a lot of fun. They work hard to ensure everyone enjoys themselves.

I don't know how the people who run this RV park know us...

AG and her friend came up to visit us and we went to a wine tasting and then had a picnic.

When do I get the seafood? I've eaten everything else and so we headed out for Sunset Beach, NC. I played golf there over a decade ago and remembered that it was a golfers paradise. But I'd never been to the beach and this is where Julie wanted to go.

Myrtle Beach' shoreline is littered with high rise hotels, condos and businesses. The overdevelopment is good for the economy, I guess; jobs in hospitality and tax revenues for government. Sunset beach, just over the SC border retains some of its natural beauty. And this place is a barrier island, protecting inland Sunset Beach with an estuary. Homes are on the back side, protected by man made dunes.

We couldn't walk out on the pier due to storrn damage.

We walked the beach and enjoyed the open space and salt air. It was a little breezy and you could feel the chill in the air despite temps in the low 70's

Oh yeah, seafood? We ate at a Mexican restaurant...
