I'm Going to be a BIG Star in the Movies

We left Tabor City last Saturday and headed for Hollywood. That's right, Hollywood!

All kinds of agents would be clamoring to send me scripts, arrange meetings with directors, writers and producers. Other "A List" stars would be calling and begging me to do a film project with them. And the money... ohhh the money!

And then I woke up. Crap.

While the dream was great and a fantasy of incredible possibilities, the reality of driving down route 17 sunk in on our way to Charleston. It was kind of a boring drive until traffic picked up as we entered Mt. Pleasant.

Yeah, it's long. It's beautiful. It's modern.

It's the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge.

And it is scary. Cars were eclipsing the speed limit, zipping in and out of our lane and as we approached the span, it rose up and appeared steep. Very steep. Hauling the Puffin up the incline made me nervous. Julie calmed me by saying that we wouldn't survive if we fell off the bridge. Did I say the bridge was long?

We couldn't get off fast enough and I thought all was going to be just fine. That was until we had to make a sharp turn on a raised banked elevation (also wicked high in the air), which we survived.

How's that dream coming along Tommy?

We survived the ride and made it to Hollywood. South Carolina that is.

We forgot to secure one of the barn doors (the loo), and it didn't survive too well. The hanging hardware broke, destroyed the track, but no other damage. I swear one of the ducks used a wing to cover their eyes while I was in the bathroom. Really don't blame them. A quick trip to Home Depot and everything necessary was acquired, including a quick call to my friend Dave.

Again, we're in a rural setting and this RV park has a rather large web footed welcoming committee.

They're everywhere and not shy or blessed with hygiene etiquette. The park features a slow moving stream and ponds. The services are adequate and we are puzzled by the speed limit while on park property... 4.7MPH.

We are close to train tracks, as they've replaced my alarm clock, rumbling through at around 4:30 AM.

On Sunday, we took a walk at Caw-Caw. It's a low impact wildlife preserve; the Ravenel Caw Caw Interpretive Center. It is part of an area where rice field plantations were created out of cypress swamps. And it was both beautiful and fascinating. Can you see the rattlesnake?

We spent a lot of time at Caw-Caw, until we headed to the local grocery store for supplies.
