How we got here...

Writer: TomTom

A few years ago, Julie and I started talking about living in an RV. We didn't know much about the different types, or how to use them or care for them. It was a dream of Tom's parents who never got to realize going across the country. Julie's father talked about taking his family on a sailboat to see the world. Again, it didn't happen. It's not that Julie or I are trying to live up to someone else' dream, we wanted to see America. Julie is still involved in her career, while I'm retired.

What drove us was the idea of "IF NOT NOW, WHEN?"

Don't get us wrong, each of us is well traveled. Julie has lived abroad, seen a lot of Europe and the Middle East, while my work has taken me around the globe.

As we began learning about the differences of which "rig" we should buy, it became clear we needed to understand how it would suit two purposes; everyday living and work. Each issue had to be comfortable. We didn't want to feel squeezed in no matter what we were doing. We settled on a fifth wheel; a Keystone Montana bunkhouse.

And so it was on, we were doing this thing and planned our first trek to span 5 months.
