You should never retrieve your darts while the guy your competing against is still holding his... Choosing the right campground, especially when your experience can't fill a thimble is a lot like darts...

Our last night in Roanoke Rapids was fun. We went out for dinner at a place called Haggerty's Steak House. We ate at the bar and were blown away by the quantity of and quality of their fare. They do ribeye's and they were delicious. Fried pickles were great and the home made desserts ensure you'll leave a lot heavier than when you came in.
The atmosphere is a locals kind of place and space is limited. We were lucky to get a seat. While there, Julie struck up a conversation with a couple and we wound up staying, having another glass of wine and laughing and enjoying their company. It was a fun night out.
Roanoke Rapids is an interesting place. It has the river and rapids, a canal museum and a lot... an awful lot of fast food restaurants. It has all the appearance of an upscale truck stop. The Walmart super center was packed with big rigs. I suppose there's a lot more to Roanoke Rapids and someone will most likely take offense to these comments or point out the finer aspects of their berg.; it's not a place I would revisit... (not that there's anything wrong with that).
But now we're in Tabor City, NC. It's a few miles from the South Carolina border and the camp site is nice. We're in a pull through site and the services are fine. Better still is this is a family run business and every member of the family works here. They're open, friendly and seem trusting... they use the honor system for some items. Take what you need and leave the $ in the box. It's really refreshing to see.

As we drove around, looking for diesel fuel and and a grocery store, we happened upon these two who told us which way to go. Food Lion, but no Piggly Wiggly.
Carrollwoods is a small park and it's on the grounds of a winery. The Grapefull Sisters Vineyard has a store and wine tasting room.

They offer a large variety of wines produced through different types of Muscadine grapes. This too was a good time and the store features a lot of food items and gifts. One of the owners was on hand, along with the woman behind the bar who walked us through the wine tasting. I'll confess that their wines are not to my liking; Julies either But we learned a lot about how Muscadine grapes are actually loaded with antioxidants, native to the area and are very popular. Below is Hissy, the Grapes Guard!

On Sunday, we enjoyed making breakfast outside, did a little shopping in North Myrtle Beach and went to the beach. It was a brilliant sunshine day, with temps in the mid ~ upper 50's. We ended the day around the campfire, drinking wine and noshing on cheese and olives. It was one of those days that says we're lucky to be here and doing this!
